Services

BISLA provides the following services:

    For Children:
    • Behavioral Intervention Services: BISLA provides in home, school and community services for children ages 18 months to 15 years that exhibit different challenging behaviors and are diagnosed within the Autism spectrum (including Asperger Syndrome), ADD, ADHD, learning deficits, and others. The intensity and nature of the intervention are determined based on a thorough functional assessment (FA), in agreement with parents. Based on the FA results, recommendations can vary from a few hours, to intense intervention of up to 40 hours per week. Once the intervention begins, the implementation and progress are constantly monitored and supervised to ensure adherence to the goals. In addition to direct intervention, we provide parent and teacher training, while also participating in IEPs.
    • Social Skills Groups: BISLA provides social skills groups for children ages 2.5 to 12 years old. The children are placed in groups of 2-6 each based on their chronological age and level of social skill deficits and functioning. Using ABA techniques, the activities are designed to help the children acquire skills in different social settings. The skills that are taught vary from Appropriate gestures (e.g. making eye contact, hand shaking, personal space, expressing feelings, inappropriate physical expressions) through play skills (e.g. playing by the rules, taking turns, sharing) to Conversation skills (e.g. initiating a conversation, listening skills, inquiring and complementing others, and talking concisely). In the older age groups children also learn to work together in groups, problem solving skill, expressing feelings, and more
